slowlyunfoldingThe grand tapping of the keg was today at noon to open Oktoberfest. On the walk home, I noticed that King Street has a couple of rides (a castle gangplank & slide thing) & candy floss booths set up already. I think that might be a new thing for Oktoberfest. Or, I've never noticed the rides before. The drunken carousing is not my thing, so whatever. I don't mind checking out the dudes in their lederhosen though. There were a few people that have clearly already partying all afternoon that we (myself & another law clerk from a different firm walk together - aka Bus Lady) crossed paths with on the way to the bus. Meaning they almost mowed us down in a slow motion pedestrian collision. I find all the road closures & subsquent RIDE programs to be more of a nuisance than anything. Also, this weekend is Thanksgiving aka ritual sacrifice. With pie. It totally snuck up on me. Again. I'm leaning toward making chicken + smashed potatoes + dressing + corn (which I now call corm cuz of an LOLCAT macro or something.) Not sure on the wherefores or whatevers, but that is that. Oh, and pumpkin pie must be had. At all costs. There better be some left in the store. Or somebody is gonna get a hurt. If anyone on my flist is local, & has nowhere to go for Thanksgiving, you're welcome to join me & the BF. I'm thinking Sunday for the shindig. sihaya09's annual care package swap. Hopefully, I will get it done tomorrow, but if not, oh well. I still have a few days. I will not stress myself about it, although I do every year. It has to be just right.
Now I must go & lounge about on the couch. I am starving right now, so perhaps eating dinner before the grocery store is a really, really good idea.
