rainy saturday afternoons.
Oct. 2nd, 2010 07:02 pmI spent the entire afternoon rearranging my living room even though I'm not feeling 100%, more like 95%.
The purpose: to make it multifunctional so I don't keep using the coffee table as a craft area which becomes a disaster area.
The trick: living room is approximately 20 x 26 feet. I think that might be a generous overestimate. It's been a long time since we took the actual measurements of the room.

The couch used to be against the wall, under the prayer flag. I think I need a smallish area carpet for this spot.

Bookcase, tv cabinet and another bookcase. I have another bookcase in my bedroom. I haven't found one of those stick on hook things so I can sweep the filmy curtains aside. It was just looking too busy. I haven't really organized either bookcase, and that seems pretty obvious with the way the books are all which-a-way. Tote bag hanging on my tv cabinet is for toting lunches, books, stuff.

Hmm. Blurry. This is the chill out zone. The no tv zone, I'm reading a book/listening to music zone. Please excuse the mess in the kitchen. It's a mess. Oh, and that turquoise shape reflected in the mirror above the orchids (that aren't real)? That's me trying to lean back as far as possible to be able to take this shot. I'm rather glad this is so blurry because I am a mess today.

I'm sitting here right now. It's where all the sarcasm & devastating wit orignate. I know that lamp is too tall. Just deal with it. I think I might bedazzle it more. To the right, is the sliding doors to my balcony & the much hated parking lot over which I am overlooked by another apartment building & everyone who walks by. The sun face painting was an old table top from one of those particle board "decorator tables" that you put miles of foofy fabric on. I always hated it, and eventually painted the table & got rid of the foof. The bottom part was painted in various shades of blues, mostly dark navy & I glued wooden stars on it that I painted gold. For whatever reason, I lost the bottom part of the table. I painted the sun face when I was still in university ... I think in 1993 or thereabouts. Also, this desk was my dad's. It has always been my favourite even when I was little.

The craft guerilla area. Table was $40 unfinished from IKEA. My journal is open because a layer of Golden gel medium is drying. I can also watch tv from this vantage point too. Folding metal chair is actually something I use in my yoga practice for shoulderstand & plow pose. I draped one of my scarves over the back to soften it up.

This is the page that is currently in progress.
