Welcome to Elora

This little cottage had the most beautifully wild garden surrounding it. The split rail fence was a thing of beauty in itself.  The property was just stunning. I would love to live in such a place.

Out front there was no parking for cars, just horses.

That bare patch in the grass is where the hitching post is secured. Either from years of wear, the post is worn down on the top, and also appears to have been rather chewed. I had to walk gingerly in this area while photographing the cottage, as there were quite a few road apples hiding in the grass.

Perhaps the quaintness of being a tourist for a day melted my brain, but I think these shutters are sweet. If only they weren't painted, just the carving of the design left alone. I would put these shutters on the cottage above. "My" Cottage, it has become.

A perfectly tumbledown detached garage. I think it's still in use.

No, this tree is not defying gravity. My computer is being ridiculously slow tonight. Just tilt your head to the left. Those roots are completely a part of the other tree. Looks like that facehugger from Alien.

Yet another unrotated image. This is why it's called "Elora Gorge." Apparently there is camping here. That would be fun, but scary too. A few people end up getting drunk and falling to their death into the gorge.

Am now too tired to finish. Computer is too slow and might have to smash something. Or go to bed.

It is very pretty there. I got scared photographing the gorge though ... it felt like I was going to tumble over the fence, head over heels ... it was just that steep.

I had never been to Elora before. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the Gorge is. I was expecting a rough & ready party town. Instead, the town is a postcard of small town Canadiana. I freaked out at the lookout point because the Gorge is freaking straight down ... maybe 150 or 200 metres. I don't do well with heights at all. Also, the next group of people that came over were insane ... one guy stood on the ledge looking down. I suppose the bag from the LCBO (liquor store) perched nearby might have had something to do with his 'courage.'
